52-year-old female with a history of advanced melanoma of the left thumb
History
52-year-old female with a history of advanced melanoma of the left thumb. Patient has smoked most of her adult life. Patient complained of a headache that had lasted 3-4 days.
CT Findings
There are multiple pulmonary nodules throughout all lung fields ranging in size from a few mm to the largest in the superior right lower lobe being 3.2 x 2.7 cm. Abutting the anterior chest wall is a large nodule in the left upper lobe region measuring 4.7 x 2.6 cm.
PET Findings
Comparison is made with a CT performed 2 days prior to PET scan. There is diffuse metastatic disease. Increased tracer accumulation is identified in the brain, with a very large focus in the superior left occipital region, in numerous pulmonary nodules bilaterally, in the left axilla, soft tissue of the right thigh medially and laterally, the anterior abdominal wall, the right gluteal region and in the right hand. The latter focus may represent the IV injection site.
