Case #3
Kidney and Bladder Cancer -
53-year-old male
History
A 53-year-old male diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma in 2000. The patient underwent left nephrectomy in August 2000. He has a known left hemipelvis osseous and soft tissue metastatic lesion. He completed radiation therapy to the pelvis in July 2001. He also had immunotherapy from September 2000 to March 2001. A recent CT demonstrated an abnormal finding within the chest.
PET Findings
Large osseous metastasis involving the left hemipelvis and right pubis, and the surrounding soft tissues. There are bilateral inguinal lymphadenopathy, and a metastatic soft tissue nodule anteriorly to the lower pelvis. Large hypermetabolic focus in the right lung apex corresponding to the right apical mass on CT. This is most consistent with a primary brochogenic carcinoma with associated right paratracheal and hilar metastatic lymphadenopathy.
