Cervical Cancer Case Study 01

Clinical History
A 43-year-old female patient presented for evaluation and restaging of cervical cancer. A hysterectomy had been performed for cervical cancer 9 months prior.

Imaging Findings
NUCLEAR MEDICINE PET/CT Scan
STATED REASON FOR REQUEST: Cervical cancer restaging

Recurrent cervical cancer   Left iliac chain nodal metastasis

The PET/CT scan revealed an enhancing mass with abnormal glucose metabolism in the left pelvis consistent with recurrent cervical cancer involving the left aspect of the vaginal cuff and contiguously involving the left ovary. In addition, the PET images revealed a solitary left iliac chain nodal metastasis that was not evident on the CT only images.

Discussion
The PET/CT images revealed recurrent metastatic disease and a different more aggressive chemotherapy regime was started.
